Stereotypes - foreingners about Poland

Stereotypes are joined with ignorance about the Poles and Poland.

Something about ignorance...

The result of this is that a lot of foreigners see Poland as a very poor, communist country.
Poland is often confused with Russia and some people belive that polish language is a Russian dialect.

To other abroad countries the Poles are famous for complaining. It is true – old people do it particularly very often. The older have right to complain and they owe it to the times od PRL. The young changing the stereotype. Even so we love laughing and enjoying ourselves – the old too.

The second stereotype it that the Poles are not tolerant. I think it is not true. In Poland there are racists, of course, but just like in other countries. A long time ago in Poland lived a lot of foreigner and today I see the same situation. For me, the Poles are getting more tolerant every day.

The third stereotype is that the Poles like drinking vodka. The fact is that we like drinking alcohol and eating a lot. The praxis comes from nobility times. We enjoy feasting but we are not drunks and gluttons! The truth is that the most popular alcohol in Poland is not vodka but beer. And we can be content because the Polish beer is better than the foreign one.

The fourth stereotype is that in Poland there is high crime level. For foreigners we are first of all thieves. It is certain that crime is everywhere and it is sure – we are not leaders!
It is obvious that every stereotype has a grain of truth but maximizing it can be often very unjust.
